ALBANY, N.Y. — Local nonprofit, Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County teaches more than just reading and writing these days, with the introduction of a new Sewing & English Skills class.
This weekly course, supported by a grant from the Workforce Development Institute, began last fall as an opportunity for students to learn not only language skills, but mechanical sewing skills that serve as training for employment.
