WDI Receives Smart Grid Training Grant

Albany, NY - WDI has been awarded a national grant from the U.S. Department of Energy for Smart Grid training. Through an intense national competition, WDI was awarded a $1,588,436 grant which will allow WDI and IBEW to recruit, train, and employ line workers in New York to ensure that adequate numbers of line workers are trained with upgraded skills in smart grid technologies. The line workers will install, maintain, and support the electric power sector.

The project will directly result in the training of over 800 line workers and up to 450 new apprenticeships.
