Mary Jo Ferrare has served as the Regional Director for Mohawk Valley since 2007. She is a proud member of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA Local 190) and is their first female retiree. Mary Jo worked for a variety of general and masonry contractors in the building trades throughout her career, primarily as a mason tender (mixing mortar, pouring concrete, setting pavers, building and stocking scaffolds with brick and blocks).   

Having served on the Multicultural Association of Medical Interpreters (MAMI), CNY Labor Council, and the Women's Employment & Resource Center (WERC) Boards is part of her rich experience. She currently participates as an advisory board member for the Advanced Institute of Manufacturing (AIM).  

Mary Jo is a recipient of the NYS AFL-CIO Samuel Gompers Distinguished Service Medal and also received the Women’s Employment & Resource Center’s Luminary Award for her commitment to elevating the status of working women. Her areas of workforce development interest include the development of English language literacy for the region’s foreign-born populations, as well as support for the area’s Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Cybersecurity industries. Mary Jo is a graduate of Hamilton College.
